what not to do on the train part 2

"so i walked under a bus, i got hit by a train" - bachelor girl (buses and trains)

i'm beginning to think that long train rides are hazardous to my health.

today i had the 'pleasure' of having to go from one end to the other end in a train. and as usual the weekend crowd brought about rude and annoying people.

i was with my grandmother who is 83 years old and looks like a grandmother. you're supposed to give up your seat for the elderly right? well perhaps in perfect world. but in this world, that didn't happen. my grandmother had to hold on to the railing for dear life before one young man finally gave up his seat. but the thing is this. i don't think he gave up his seat out of the kindness of his heart. if so, he would have done so much earlier when he was staring around instead of pretending not to notice like everyone else. i think he just reached his stop and therefore since he already had to vacate the seat, decided to kindly inform my grandmother. okay we'll take what we can get.

which so wasn't the case later in the long train ride back. not a single person gave up their seat to my grandmother. there were people getting off their seats and out of the train but there was always some younger person who rushed to that seat hence depriving my grandmother of some rest.

i was there sharing a holding pole with her and being annoyed with people when this lady comes round and shares the pole. now i'm really friendly so pole sharing is perfectly acceptable for me. but not when she places her hand so close to mine that her hand is practically resting on top of my hand.

whoa! lady... i don't even know you... we're just sharing a pole here... there's no need to hold my hand.

there is plenty of space on that pole so why on earth would she rest her hand on mine? did my hand resemble a cushion used to prevent carpal tunnel syndrome?

well i suppose at least she didn't lean her entire body against the pole where my hand is 'coz i've had way too many experiences of that as well.

maybe next time i should just pay for a taxi.

Next time you should have just smack the lady on her hand and say - get your hands off me, you stupid cow.

As for the rest of the passengers who refuse to give up their seat - it's a lost cause. Take a cab!
